What are we healing, HEAD OR HEART?

Posted in Healing at 8:57 pm by Administrator

Ok, let the debate begin. Psychology v Soul Care

In this corner, bringing with it a scientific perspective, and defining itself as a science that deals with the mind, the mental processes and behaviors - PSYCHOLOGY!!!!!

And in this corner, bringing with it a biblical and eternal perspective, and defining itself as an approach to heal one’s inner most life force, or soul - SOUL CARE (I could say Christian Counseling, but oh well)!!!!!

Well this is gonna be a great fight. Let’s look at the tale of the tape:

The etimology of Psychology is a combination of two words: -ology meaning the study of, and the greek word psyche meaning soul!! So, . . . wait a minute - Psychology, the science thereof, comes from the word ’soul’?

That’s right!! The greek word psyche is used 105 times in the New Testament and is used to describe man’s immortal soul, life, breath, the vital force which animates the body, that essence which is separate from the body and is not dissolved by death.

So what is it that we are treating these days? The head or the soul. What is the true center of man’s being? The soul! The lifeforce given by the living God.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT if you are in need of healing. Come to the creator of the soul and seek His counsel.

Happy Easter. Where’s the bunny?

Posted in Healing, Worship at 11:48 am by Administrator

No rabbits here. Just an empty tomb. Easter is a culmination of both healing and worship. As an act of Worship, the Son, Jesus, obeyed the Father, God, by going to the cross, where He suffered so that all who come to Him will be HEALED. Come to Worship Him, and you will find healing as well.

Why Must We Suffer?

Posted in Healing at 11:44 am by Administrator

Suffering, misery, sadness, loss, disability, etc; these are all feelings or circumstances that the ENEMY (satan, the devil) uses against us. During these trials we are lied to, and encouraged to adopt the belief that a ‘loving’ God would never allow His people to go through such struggles. So often, this is the argument of non-believers and it lays as the cornerstone of individualism and selfishness. It may sound harsh, but it is true, for people see only themselves in times of despair. It is at this time they need to take their eyes off of themselves and direct them towards the Cross, so they can see what a ‘loving’ God truly does.
In John’s Gospel, the disciples ask Jesus why a man was born blind, wondering if this blindness was a result of the blind man’s sin or perhaps his parents’ sin. No doubt, our Lord’s answer was a bit shocking. “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life” (John 9:3). What? You mean God can use our struggles to be glorified? You mean our trials, our pain, our infirmities, our brokenness can all be used for the glory of the KING? Yes! But we must accept that He is Lord, that HE is in control for this leads to true healing, the healing of the soul: TRUE HEALING STARTS FROM THE INSIDE-OUT!!!!!
A healed soul is a redeemed soul, that is covered in the eternal grace of God.

We must suffer, our Lord told us we would. Yet, all things to the glory of God, all things to the glory of God. Both triumph and tragedy to the glory of God.

Look beyond the heart in Worship

Posted in Worship at 11:16 pm by Administrator

I LOVE MUSIC. I especially enjoy those rare instances when the message of a song is matched exactly by the dynamics and style of the music. There’s nothing quite like a worship song that will bring you to your knees while repentant tears stream from your eyes. Like the song “At the Cross” by Hillsong:

You tore the veil, You made a way, when You said that it is done“. - WOW!!!!!!!! Have a look and a listen:

Emotion is good and comes from the heart. Emotion is from God. Three of the major ‘fruits of the Spirit’ are based on emotion: Love, Joy, and Peace, for these are things that we feel. Yet in the Worship of our life, both private and corporate, we cannot afford to base our worship solely on how we feel, that is to say, we cannot worship solely from the heart. For if we base it solely on emotion, there will be those days when we “just don’t feel like serving God”. This leads to the root of sin, SELFISHNESS. So, Worship must be just as cerebral and spiritual, as it is emotional. For to truly Worship the living God is to love Him, and we are commanded by God’s word to:

Love the Lord your God with all your HEART (emotion) and with all your SOUL (Spirit) and with all your MIND (Thinking/Reason) and with all your STRENGTH (physical). (NIV, Mark 12:28-30)

Just food for thought the next time you don’t “FEEL” like going to Worship at church.

This is a hello to all bloggers or just those interested in reading the ramblings of a dad, husband, Worship Leader, Christian counselor in training, and many other things which probably should not be discussed for the sake of good taste. My goal within this blog is to offer perspectives (maybe rants from time to time) on the topics of Worship (prayer and music) and Healing (counseling), for I believe they ARE NOT mutually exclusive. I pray all content herein blesses those who read for the glory of our heavenly Father.
